It's amazing how well you can learn something simply by reading over notes. I read them a few hours ago, thinking "shit, I'll never remember all this!" now, looking at them again, it's more "i know this, wtf?"

I really wish I was done by now... with the 26degree weather outside and all.

Oh, and I lost my cell phone. Not just missplace, no. Actually lost. It fell out of my bag on my way to the library, and I couldn't find it anywhere along that route when I walked it again, and I couldn't find it under the cars... so I'm going to assume that someone either stole it or it got run over, or there's a good semaritan out there who just doesn't have internet, and can't tell me they have the phone. ughz.

It's not so bad, though, because my contract was ending this month, anyways, it was a free phone, and I could easily get a disposable one with pay as you go cards. it's just annoying. Also, it's saturday, and I have an exam tonight, so I couldn't do anything today, can't do anything tomorrow, and have to wait till monday.

FUUUUUUCK.

At least it wasn't my wallet!!!! I've alread lost that :P (yay good semaritans!)

seriously, why is it 26 degrees outside? this is not good study temperatures.

I just had a nice talk with my dad... and I feel a lot better about, well, life. I know I'm not going to get the marks on these exams necessary to get me into thesis in fourth year, but I will FOR SURE be able to get into seminar courses... which would allow me to graduate with my degree, but I'd have absolutely no shot at grad school. My dad just reassured me that this wasn't the worst thing in the world. YAY. now I just have to tell my mum... ikes. that will be awkward.

Basically, at this point, I'm going to pass my exams with as good a mark as possible, hope for over 75% average, but if I can't do that, then pray for over 70% average... eventually graduate in 4 years (I really couldn't handle a 5th year), move to Germany and work as a tour guide for a year... or two. I KNOW that I could get a job as a tour guide, seeing as I will be able to speak three languages fluently by that point. I also plan on learning bassoon, and then I think I'll go back to school in bassoon performance, and *hopefully* get a carreer in music. oh man, I really started down the wrong path out of high school. I guess it's for the best, though, that I have this crisis of identity now, rather than.. you know... in grad school, should I make it.

*sob* the idea of breaking this to mother isn't good. I'm sure she'll understand, although she might be a bit annoyed that I wasted all that money on four years of school in a program that will do nothing for me in the future.

Step-dad won't be so easy to convince. I think he's got his heart set on another "child" having a PhD... but it's really not happening. University just isn't working for me, at least not psyc.

I'm an idiot

I was working in Humphrey on the RA project, and I went out to get a drink of water... stupiidly leaving my keys inside the room. Meaning I couldn't get back to my keys (and student card), phone, wallet, and COAT, MITTS AND HAT. FUCK!!!!

So i ran/walked home in the freezing cold. At least I had my sweater on, and I have another coat and I didn't have my bag with me... but STILL.

The next step is to wake up early tomorrow morning and camp out in front of the room until someone comes by to let me in.

The saddest part? I couldn't turn the light or the computer :(

I just got my exam schedule.. and the verdict is: for 6 courses it's awesome!!! long, but w/evs. i have a day between each exam (at least one day) and they're spread across 2 weeks... only 2 per week if that makes any sense (1 week is kinda split in two.. half before half after..) and the best part? I'm done before the last weekend! which means i could in theory get to ottawa for the opera!!! WHEEEE!!!!

It's official!!! I'm IN!!!! *dances* i found out this afternoon, and i'm SO EXCITED!!!! My friend virginia is going there too, and Krista is going to Freiburg, so i'll have two really good friends in close proximity :D (not to mention the other friends i will have on exchange in Europe, including Holland, Ireland and Scotland!!)

In other news, a few hours before I heard i got the exchange, i ordered the first two Harry Potter books auf Deutsch... not a moment too soon, obviously, since I will need all the help with German I can get now!!!

Second cold of the year... boo. I always get sick at the end of January :'(

I went down to the corner store cuz the woman there told me LAST time i had a cold to drink cranberry juice and gingerale. so i bought 2L of gingerale and 1L of cranberry juice. lol.

i went to see Juno last night! with 7 other people! best. movie. ever. SO GOOD!!!! I laughed SO hard. i think i need to buy superbad and Juno now (when juno comes out) to add to my "comedies i like collection" with Hot fuzz and men with brooms and wallace and grommit.

After the movie we all went to DQ and had a lengthy conversation about our favourite children's computer games. the most common favourites: Reader Rabbit (for me math rabbit, but same thing), lemmings, and .. circus something? wild circus? this game with stick figure circus thingers where you had to calculate canon angles or trapeze timings.

And we talked a bit about mythbusters... and lots more nerdy stuff.

Anyways, today is definitely laundry and food shopping and reading all my textbooks day :S

arrrrrrgh we almost caught the rat :'(

SO CLOSE!!! Ambika started screaming about it being on the stairs, then Krista and i came down (krista more because she wanted to see the mouse, cause she'd never seen one before... so we went into the kitchen, when i tracked it down in one of the cupboards haha it ran out, and ambika and krista were screaming SO loudly it was hilarious (i was collapsed in laughter). anyways, it ran under the freestanding shelves behind the cutting board which had happened to fall under them. so i got Rob to poke around under there with a broom, while i waited for it to run out so i could catch it in a bucket (and then sit on it until we could get the landlord over lol).

anyways, the plan worked beautifully except that the mouse (but it's large enough to be a rat!!!) was an iota too fast for me, and i missed it by an inch. GRR!!! and it ran back into the walls some place. *sniff*

anyways, very exciting time.. ambika's calling phil no-stop now to try and get him to come over immidiately. i HATE vermin in my house!!! such a pain!

oh man. such an insane two weeks, considering that it was with my parents... here's a basic rundown:

-saw hansel and gretel in the movie theater!!! (opera)... it was awesome, surprisingly.
-also saw sweeney todd... my mum put it best: "the things we do for johnny depp" .. he was gorgeous, but SO much blood *shivers*
-got my backpack.. it's gorgeous! lime green and perdy and 62L of fabulousness.
-tried and failed to get my parents into Weeds... supposedly a drug dealing mother is "too amoral" for them
-bought an ipod nano video... 8G and green, i loves it! i got it at a good price too, 220 after taxes.
-New Years party in a little town near my parent's house. it was hosted by John Dunsworth, who plays Mr. Leahy in the trailor park boys :P i talked to him for a bit and he was telling us about how he took mushrooms in mexico LMAO
-coming out of the new years eve party, the sky was absolutely full of stars.. and not just the normal stars, but all the little ones too.. it was absolutely AMAZING.

-really the only bad thing about it was that the train ride each way was late.. making it two ways of 30 hour train rides. FUCK.
-oh, and now we have a mouse in the house. double fuck.

hoky... so this is me being normal

on my treck from home to the library (and i say treck because it's pissing snow outside) i realised that i had forgotten my fork for my pasta... so i treck into mac corry caf, which SHOULD be open, but it's not. piss. so now i'm eating my pasta with.. wait for it... a wooden coffee stir stick. yes, that's right, a coffee stir stick. just for reference, the pasta is penne (i think..the cylinder stuff with pointy ends) so it's actually not that hard, just rather awkward :p

*sigh* my life rocks.

also, i'm on season 5 of scrubs :S and i only started watching it last week.... and not 24 hours/day.... oh man.

ahhh today's an awesome day so far :D

1. got the RA position i wanted, in a really interesting lab
2. group lab for learning got 93/100, the highest mark for the class *grin*
3. almost done the summary notes for stats... and the exam's not till wednesday! lalala!!! i'll actually be done before the day of the exam! whoot!

so yeah, all i need now is my new computer hahaha.... should come wednesday, but i can always hope for sooner, right?

wheeeee!!!!!
i'm sitting in Mac-Corry caf... waiting for 2:30 to come around so i can go into my 3rd of 3 meetings today hahaha.

1st: RA meeting... went really well!!! guy seemed interested in what i wanted to do (eventually.. in 10 years) and we talked about music and other random stuff.. basically he said "it's not a matter of whether or not i'll take you, it's a matter of what position you'll be in" and that's not in a dirty context at ALL!!! (so don't go there :P) haha so basically, i've got research experience lined up for next year. JOY! and it seems pretty interesting too.

2nd: questions about OBW exchange.. most answered, and i was slightly reassured about stuff that i was worried about haha

3rd: more questions about exchange, but this time academic.. waiting to go in now! .. joy.

anyways, all in all, today has been a pretty good and productive day. tonight is the movie M with german classes, so i get to relax, watch a foreign black and white film and eat some popcorn... whoot.

also, my computer has magically decided to start working again... note the fact that i can use N and B and 56 again!!! and i'm not using my substitute keyboard!!! :O this after i shell out 700$ for a new computer LOL arrrrrrrrgh. oh well, this one will go to someone who needs it (donating it to somewhere where they give computers to students who can't afford them), so something good will come out of the whole mess PLUS i get a shiney new one. whoo

WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE i got an RA meeting!!! :D nothing may come of it, but at least i got a meeting! score one for moi!!!

it's for adolescent developmental psyc... totally not what i'm studying at all, but at least it might give me valuable lab hours and a professor who can write me a reference for grad school. WHOOT! also most psyc grad programs require research experience, and getting some early is always best, since otherwise it's like "uh... so i did my undergraduate thesis... heh" and that's not good hahahaa. anyways, fingures crossed! if i do get it, it means my next semester is going to be hellish beyond belief, but at least i'll be achieving something important :D
